Mickey Pledges Solidarity with her song Sister

1 minute, 14 seconds Read

Mickey’s voice breaks through the gentle piano music with a powerful statement “I know it’s hard being strong. And not getting lost in a man’s world”. Sister is a song of solidarity between women, being there for one another even when the times are tough. An anthem of support and unity. The writing comes from deep within themselves drawing on their (Mickey Guyton, Nathan Spicer, Victoria Banks) own experiences and close relationships they have with people in their inner circles.

The lyrics draw on the good and bad times we have with friends and the chorus starts with “I got your back on the long – stumble home. Sister” . Mickey goes on to say that she is the yes in all the rejections you have, she is your speed dial when you need to cry late at night and finishes by saying “You are gonna hurt but you ain’t gonna hurt alone”. It is true encouragement and support from someone who knows you and is a “Sister”.

Mickey Guytons’ vocal performance was powerful and makes you believe in every word she sings. The music is stripped back until the second verse where the drums come in and the power of her voice is even more evident. Mickey is a talented artist and she knows how to tell a story with her songs uplift people.

Mickey is rising the ranks of country music and it won’t be long before we see her winning awards.
