“Absolutely loving this. Just listen to the tone of voice she has.” – BBC Intro London
“A fresh, young take on Country, Simeon’s voice is equal parts melancholic and powerful, making her music a soothing balm for a broken heart.” – Belles and Gals
“It’s too rare that we get to hear a new voice that knocks us off our feet. Simeon’s the latest to do just that, with her powerful bluesy stomp and kick. A thrill to discover.” – The Folkroom
A wickedly-badass pint-sized powerhouse, Simeon Hammond Dallas is a force to be reckoned with. An enemy of dichotomy, her music is soft and vulnerable while packing a punch at the same time. Her overactive mind and desire to live a life like a travel montage from a rom-com fuel the inspiration for her music; a bluesy country-soul amalgamation that empowers her listener to be the protagonist of their own screenplay.
Hailing from London’s Camden Town, Simeon released her debut single Wild Woman in January 2019. The country-rock feminist anthem was the predecessor to her debut EP Manic Pixie Dreams released later that year to critical acclaim, crossing genres from folk to country, blues to soul, whilst tied together with a strong acoustic guitar and Simeon’s distinctive powerhouse vocals. In 2020 Simeon was listed among the ten top black female country artists to look out for in several publications. The year also saw the release of two singles, Eat and August, ahead of her second studio EP, Make It Romantic, scheduled for release in 2022.
The newest release A Hundred Lovers amplifies the strength of an independent woman putting herself first in a male-dominated world. Written, arranged, and produced by Simeon herself, she recorded the track with Leon Itzlet at Kheda Studio in North London. As playful as it is celebratory, Simeon has a tight grasp on the reins of her narrative, and A Hundred Lovers comes as an empowering reminder for us to do the same.
“I wrote A Hundred Lovers after a text conversation with a friend, I told her jokingly, I have a hundred lovers, and subsequently wrote the song within the hour. I’m releasing it as an anthem for the sunshine months of holiday romances and love affairs.”
