On April 22nd, Bedfordshire-based and Americana Music Association UK awards nominee for Album, Artist, and Song of the Year categories in 2017, 2018, and 2020, Danni Nicholls, released her newest single, “Little Fictions.” The song brings Danni’s authentic voice both figuratively and literally to the forefront with a new kind of power.
Little Fictions was co-written with Rebekah Powell (Zooey Deschanel, Ward Thomas, Sarah Darling). This song was born from a persistent, exhausting, niggling feeling of doubt. Doubt in self, life’s path, and relationships followed by the acknowledgment of anxious voices that try to take us down and block the little fictions we tell ourselves ultimately making it hard to trust the journey. From self-sabotaging “this brutal knife in my own hand” embodies blaming oneself for the disappointments and struggles of daily life in a globally relatable song.
For the first time in the lead producer’s seat, Danni mix the worlds of Pop, Folk, and Memphis R&B in this song. Her stunning vocals take you on a journey of Little Fictions through its cinematic ballad proportions.
