Martha Spencer is a Virginia Appalachian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and artist with a rich lineage of music who release her newest and second solo album, ‘Wonderland,’ on September 2nd 2022. Wonderland exhibits Martha’s songwriting influences like the classics of Dolly and the lesser-known Lillie Mae. The new songs mix with traditional and universal themes, but with a finely tuned perfection.
The tradition of Appalachian music is passed down from women from generation to generation in classic storytelling forms like those of traditional ballads. Embracing strong women and telling the stories with light and darkness of home, community, and ghostly hauntings.
In her second solo album, it’s quite evident that Spencer not only exudes stunning vocals in her singing and professional storytelling in her songwriting but also as the coproducer on the album.
Honky-tonk singer Luke Bell joins Spencer on ‘Banks of New River’ and ‘Hesitation Blues.’
