Amy Martin’s Travelin’ On

2 minutes, 23 seconds Read

Single by single was the approach Amy Martin orchestrated in composing her latest album, ‘Travelin’ On.’  Amy began releasing a single a month starting off with ‘Antebellum Town’ in June of 2022.  The traditional sound of this album brings out Amy’s stunning vocals and emotions of each story of each song.  The first song off the album, ‘Antebellum Town,’ was written after January 6 insurrection.  It is a song about spreading your wings and leaving a town that has very old ways, is showered by darkness, and moving onto a town where she can make modern-day era style friends and spread her wings.

‘Travellin’ On’ describes the perfect road trip, with classic country music, many lanes, and rear-view mirrors. Then it delves deeper into the reason why she is “Travellin’ on” an ex that she was unable to keep satisfied.

Dance with you – I love the first line of this song, “She dreams in color except when she’s blue”. This song Martin’s new song, “Dance With You,” documents the beginnings of a new love. Martin’s soaring voice asks the listener to overcome the pain of previous heartbreaks and open herself to something new.

“I wrote this track in October of last year (2021) on the same night that my now partner, Paige, and I were hanging out getting to know one another,” Martin tells The Boot. “She had expressed to me that the one time she thought she had found true love was with someone who used to spontaneously dance with her. As I was listening to her pain, I shared that I grew up spontaneously slow dancing with my dad and that I had tried to do so with my ex-wife while we were still married but that sooner than later, she stopped dancing with me.”

Chamomile and Whiskey – This song tells the story of a waitress and the life she has lived, whether it was good or bad. Discusses the smells she has picked up through her life and experiences, but no matter what she has a good heart.

It’s All Right – This is a breakup song where there was no blame for the breakup. So basically they each have their own lives and everything is alright. I love that she tells us she is the songbird, showing that music is her.

Good Morning Beautiful – Tells the story of a couple showing their love through their early morning wake-up routine, where one of them greets the other saying “Good Morning Beautiful”. Who doesn’t want to be woken by those words?

Where the Devil’s Found – This song has an upbeat tempo and more of a rebellious theme. Talking about someone looking for love where the devil is found. On the wrong side of the tracks and drinking whiskey. Make sure you check out this 100% all-country album – https://linktr.ee/amymartinmusic
