Renowned Americana artist, Helen Townsend, has released her vibrant new single, Baby Come Home, out now through Gyrostream.
The sun-kissed anthem is the fourth gem in Townsend’s musical crown, following in the footsteps of her critically acclaimed track, Melbourne Streets. Infused with the lively spirit of New Orleans and rooted in Americana and honky-tonk traditions, Baby Come Home is a jubilant celebration of love and reconciliation. Townsend’s soulful vocals, coupled with infectious rhythms and jubilant brass sections, invite listeners to immerse themselves in a world of heartfelt lyricism and infectious grooves. The song expertly combines traditional elements with innovative sounds, showcasing Townsend’s boundless artistic prowess.
“I wanted the song to be a celebration of being human,” says Townsend. “We all make mistakes in life and too often we become our own judge and jury, carrying shame and guilt to our own detriment. Baby Come Home is about letting that all go and giving love a chance, built on honesty and acceptance.”
Baby Come Home not only stands as a testament to Townsend’s musical versatility, but also serves as the finale of a larger collaborative project known as the “Musical Mini-Series” with musician, Shannon Smith. The series has woven a rich tapestry of music and emotion, exploring various stages of their personal and creative relationships through a sequence of music videos, adding depth to the overarching narrative.
Accompanying the new single, is a festive music video set to premiere in early June, capturing the essence of the track in a visual feast of colour and communal joy. Catch a sneak peek of the video, further below.
