The Silverline’s new single is the nostalgic instrumental “Ashes in the Wind”, out now through indie country label, RTC Records.
“Ashes in the Wind” was composed after the Sydney duo witnessed the aftermath of the 2020 Blue Mountains bushfires. Melancholic yet quietly hopeful, it captures the sorrow and the rebirth found following bushfire devastation – the silence, the quiet promise of new beginnings and the resilience of new life rising from the ashes.
“As we stood looking at the charred landscape across the mountains, the air was still tinged with smoke as we watched the ashes drift and scatter – like memories too fragile to hold. There were no words to describe the loss of homes, of wildlife, of moments that can’t be replaced — so we let the fiddle and guitar reflect those feelings in this instrumental. The melody is calm yet aching, shaped by grief, but it also carries a thread of resilience, because even in the blackened ground we could see the first hints of new life breaking through.
