Imagine bright lights, multiple costume changes, elaborate scenery and numerous dancers and that would be a typical Reba show at the height of her touring years. She always knows how to put on a show and entertain the masses of fans who travelled across the country to see her perform.
With fiery red hair and a sassy attitude, she could turn anyone to love country music. Her music covers every life changing event you could find yourself in, heartache, broken families, relationships, cheating partners and she even has some controversial songs that covers topics like Aids and domestic abuse. She never shies away from challenging the norm and pushing the boundaries.
Reba knows how to entertain and over the years she has proved this with TV shows, films, tours and on Broadway. Reba has talent oozing through her pours and there is nothing she can’t do. She has also written two books Reba: My Story and Comfort from a Country Quilt.
You may think Reba has it all, but she is no stranger to heartache, on March 15th, 1991 after performing for the IBM executives. Reba and now ex-husband Narvel Blackstock along with hair stylist Sandy Speck, decided to stay in a hotel in California as Reba was recovering from a bout of Bronchitis. While the band travelled on to their next gig in Indiana. In the early hours of March 16th, their private pilot called Narvel to his room to disclose that the plane carrying eight band members and two pilots had all died.
The news came as a massive blow to McEntire and the entire country music world. The pain she felt that day still burns deep inside her to this day and that’s a part of what drives her further to perform and enjoy every moment she has walking God’s green Earth.
After the tragedy, came Reba’s 18th studio album and album title with the heart wrenching ballad, “For My Broken Heart”. A song that will have the strongest of people on their knees crying. Since that day, she has grown even more to become the country superstar we all know and love!! Check out her 29th Studio Album Stronger Than The Truth.
In 2020, Reba released What If to promote hope and positivity. In her own words, “This song is as relevant today as it was 23 years ago.”
